Town of Hempstead Supervisor Anthony Santino on July 12, 2016 kicked off his sun safety program, an initiative to raise awareness about the dangers of sun exposure, by distributing 2,500 packets of sunscreen to beachgoers at Hempstead beaches and 600 bottles of sunscreen to Hempstead lifeguards.
